The SUP Discipline Support Module is designed to support you to gain more knowledge about Stand UP Paddleboarding (SUP).
This module introduces you to and explains the basic techniques of SUP as well as supporting you to develop an understanding of the discipline. During a full day of activity, our expert tutors will share their passion for SUP with you.
Its a great day, predominantly practical to ensure you have time to try things out. You will explore, kit and equipment and well as techniques and skills required to enjoy SUP.
Stand Up Paddleboard Support Module Overview
To take part in the SUP Discipline Support Module you will need to be at least 14 years old.
This Module is aimed at anyone who is interested in developing their SUP knowledge. There are no registration requirements before attending the course.
Module Aims:
- Provide a background to the various disciplines within SUP;
- Introduce different types of equipment, including the issues of equipment design, size and modification to suit all individual requirements;
- Introduce and develop the knowledge of SUP-specific techniques and tactics;
- Explore some SUP safety and rescue specifics.

Content
By the end of this Module, participants should have achieved the following learning outcomes:
- Understand the worldwide development of the sport and the role of the various bodies on the field including British Canoeing Awarding Body, Academy of Surfing Instructors (ASI), British Stand Up Paddleboard Association (BSUPA), Sport England and Adventure Activities Licencing Service (AALS)
- Understand equipment design, size and modification to suit individual requirements
- Provide a background to the various disciplines within SUP paddling and the specific techniques that apply to each
- Understand the different types of Board available, their characteristics and the different techniques used on them
- Understand handling an SUP efficiently.
