Understanding the Bell Boat Helm for use within Clubs, Centres and Organisations
This webinar will help you understand the Bell Boat, the opportunities it can provide for new, novice and experienced paddlers as well as exploring the role the Bell Boat Helm plays in the British Canoeing Awarding Body award suit as well as how Clubs and Centres could benefit from utilising the award.
The Bell Boat Helm Award is aimed at teachers, coaches, youth leaders and others who wish to use Bell Boats to introduce and develop paddlers for paddlesport on sheltered water. The Bell Boat Helm takes responsibility for the crew and boat and is relevant for use throughout the year within the guidelines and conditions attached to the award.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions about the Bell Boat Helm Award and how you can best utilise it. We will also be discussing the ways you can develop your team to be able to train and assess Bell Boat Helms.

will explore Understanding Task Design – what challenges do we set our participants? and how do we know they’re the right task for that person?
This open session is aimed at Instructor, Coaches and Leaders looking at furthering their understanding of skill acquisition, TTPPEE and observation skills to improve their ability to set the right task for the right person.

This series of webinars will explore some of the many concepts of learning and how they apply to learning paddlesports. Sessions will be linked, progressive and based around three central themes:
- What is learning?
- How does skilled movement happen?
- Positive psychology to support learning.
We’ll tackle some theoretical ideas but the in the intention is to keep this ‘light touch’ and applied to paddlesport. The sessions will also challenge the idea of ‘absolute’ black and white thinking and explore some of the shades of grey.
The ‘level’ will be pitched around some of the from the Coach Award. So, if you’re on this journey, about to start it or just want to develop your thinking a little more, these sessions might be for you. We’ll use interactive tasks along the way to gather ideas, thoughts, and suggestions (we want to learn from you!

Understanding where to go, who to go with and what to do when you get there! In this session we will cover what you can do to help keep yourself safe on the water as well as making good decisions individually and with the people that you are paddling with. This interactive webinar would be helpful for anyone who is new to getting on the water or has recently joined a club or group, but will still be of interest to all instructors, leaders, and coaches who are thinking about supporting paddlers to take more control!
