My first experience at white water SUP’ing was in July 2019 at Llangollen. Myself and Aaron went to the Stand Up Paddleboard UK festival. What we didn’t realise was that we had entered into the competition that went along with it. During that competition, I managed to surprise myself by coming second in the B class overall. After that I had the bug, I wanted to do more of it.
I heard about the SUP White Water Coach Award via Aaron after he had spoken to Phil Hadley about it and asked if I was interested. I said yes, if I can have this much fun on the river, I want to show others how to.
The training course I did with Phil, Ant and Alex was one of the most enjoyable courses I had done.
The next step is to complete the assessment in the middle of next year. After that, the goal is to find more people who are wanting to start something that is fast becoming a very popular sport and help them become a confident white water SUP paddler.
