Become a Paddlesport Leader or Paddlesport Touring Leader

We are delighted to share single craft pathways for the Paddlesport Leader and Paddlesport Touring Leader will be available from 1st May 2025. This exciting development allows you to specialise in canoe, kayak, stand up paddleboard (SUP), or opt for the existing multi-craft pathway.

The Leadership awards enable you to run safe, quality, enjoyable trips, based on your group’s needs and aspirations.

The Leader development pathway is tailored to your existing experience as there is direct entry to assessment. To support you in your development of the required skills, you can choose BCAB Leadership Training. Alternatively, you can opt for more bespoke training opportunities. For example, private tuition, in-house training through your work place, working alongside/shadowing other Leaders, or conference/symposium workshops. Once you are happy with your development, you can book your assessment!

The Paddlesport Leader is aimed at paddlers who wish to lead groups on both wind affected and slow moving sheltered water. The Paddlesport Touring Leader is for those who paddle on inland open water.
