Advanced Freestyle Award

Description

10 CPD Points

Your Advanced Freestyle Award is designed to advance your skills. It will enable you to become a competent all-round freestyle paddler.

You will work with your Coach to create a proficient use of skills and equipment to enjoy and be in control throughout your freestyle session. This Award will give you the confidence in looking at the factors which affect our decisions on where and when to go out. As well as the confidence to discover and try further tricks to become an adaptable freestyle paddler.

Freestyle is about moving your boat about on every possible axis while having lots of fun. This award takes us through the fundamental skills and moves that can be learnt and performed on moving water, waves, holes and eddy lines – but many of them can be practised on flat and simple water too.

This might include:

  • Loops
  • Cartwheels
  • Splitwheels
  • Carving and cutbacks
  • Blunts
  • Back Surfing
  • Blasts
  • Bow Stalls
  • Reverse variations of the above
  • Linking moves and runs
