Description
Your Flat Water Freestyle award enables you to develop the foundation moves of freestyle. It can be run on any flat water making it the perfect opportunity to get into freestyle without the need for access to white water.
You will work alongside your Coach to practice and perfect your freestyle moves within a safe environment. Improving your skills and confidence on flat water will give you a good foundation for when, and if, you choose to transfer your skills to moving water.
Freestyle is about moving your boat about on every possible axis while having lots of fun. You will learn about the fundamental skills and moves that can be performed on flat water.
These might include:
- Edging
- Tailies
- 360 spins
- Pivot turns
- Lean cleans
- Double pumps
- Assisted pops and loops
- Rolling
Your Coach will help you explore choosing the right equipment as well as the right place to practice safely and, as a consequence, have fun!
Quotes from our learners and providers:

Quote: The response from candidates to the award has been overwhelmingly positive, candidates are thrilled that there is now a lower level freestyle award that allows them to hone their skills on flat water before moving on to the white water. Shahid, London
