Canoe Award

Description

10 CPD Points

Your Canoe Award endorses your skill, judgement and decision making when journeying in a Canoe. It is tailored to each paddler and will give you the ability to plan and undertake safe journeys.

This award empowers you to make key decisions at the right time. You will learn to judge how environmental factors, the location chosen and those you are with will affect your paddle. By the end of the award you will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys in winds up to force 3 and grade 1 rivers with simple eddy lines.

QUOTES FROM OUR LEARNERS

Quote: I really enjoyed completing the award as it was a challenge! The process reflected my learning style and consequently I felt comfortable on the water and willing to test myself! I intend to use my new award to take Canoeing onto white water at Matlock on the River Derwent. I hope to gain confidence to wild camp and go on exploring Wales and Scotland. Kat

Quote: I have run several (Canoe) awards so far. The reasons are varied that candidates book onto a course for. Several have done a Paddlesport Instructor course with me and are looking to grow their confidence in a canoe. Some are on the journey to becoming a Paddlesport Leader and are looking to increase their personal skill. Some are looking to gain skills so that they can go on canoe journeys that they have planned for the summer ahead. Nick, Cheshire
