Hear from Dan and Paul who recently delivered one of the first online core coach training courses.
Delivering the online core coach training course was really interesting.
As providers, it gave us a new challenge – how to make the content as practical as possible whilst we were all in different physical locations. We managed this through the creative use of everyday items (tying a monkey’s fist with a shoelace for example!), as well as interactive online platforms like Jamboard, and breakout rooms during the course. This allowed participants to explore the content and share ideas, rather than existing as recipients of the information.
We found that we explored content in more depth than during the practical course, but contextualising it was the biggest challenge. For example, what do the stages of learning really look like on the water? Having carefully selected, specifically filmed short videos helped with this.
It was well structured and I liked the balance between you both of the delivery. I initially thought the sessions would be long and I may struggle to focus but I was quite captivated by the whole thing. I really enjoyed it.
Learner
We had a real mixed cohort including those who had courses cancelled over the past year. We also had learners who saw this as an opportunity to progress and learn without the normal method of giving up two full days of life, travelling and accommodating themselves for a course.
