Your Polo Excel Award will further your own experience to allow you to have an enjoyable training session and game on the water. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of Canoe Polo and an indication of a high level of personal skill, teamwork and understanding of the polo game in training and competition.
What’s involved?
At this stage of your development you will be leading discussions alongside your Coach.
- Considering how you can develop your existing experience on decision making and polo skills.
- Fine tuning your passing, dribbling and catching on both sides.
- Be able to be in control under pressure.
- Explosive play and tactical consideration in both attacking and defensive play.
This will allow you to be in control throughout your training sessions and games. You will look at how to create not only a development plan for yourself, but to consider the development plan of your team as a whole to allow you to work more effectively in a team.

Content
Your self analysis will be developed to help you consider the strengths and work on areas for both yourself and your team members to develop. Specific attention will be made in fine tuning your skills to be both efficient and effective during training and competition, raising your tactical awareness in both defence and attacking.
This will include:
- Training Factors
- Getting Ready
- At the Venue
- Rules and Tactics
- Polo Skills
- Tactics
- Teamwork
- During and After the Session/Game
- Future Development
Course Assessment
This award has no formal assessment. You and your Coach will treat every session and game as an opportunity for learning and improving. By performing pre, in action and post training analysis can help you have future positive experiences and will direct where you will go next. When you are at the appropriate stage of your development and understanding you will be certificated the Polo Explore Award.
