Welcome to British Canoeing RapidJoin. The quick way to gain British Canoeing membership so you can kick off your career in paddling.

This service is for new individual English or non-UK members only. If you are a lapsed or renewing member of British Canoeing, or if you require a couples or family membership, then please use the British Canoeing membership portal here.

If you live in Northern Ireland please join through the CANI website here. If you live in Scotland join using the SCA website here. Finally, if you live in Wales please join using the Canoe Wales website here.

The membership you will purchase is On The Water membership. It includes a waterways licence for England and Wales and public liability insurance, among other benefits. You will be asked your date of birth and allocated the correct membership type for your age. Prices are:

Individual Adult (Over 23) - £47
Young Person (18-22) - £37
Youth (Under 18) - £29

Your Polo Explore Award will help you in starting to develop your ability to apply appropriate decision making to underpin your skills for participating in the game of Polo.

With your Coach you will look at the decision-making skills that will allow you to undertake an enjoyable paddling session on the water.

You will start to develop a deeper understanding of Polo and will learn the fundamental factors that affect our decisions on when and where to play.

During your development as a polo player you will develop boat handling skills and Polo skills such as:

Dribble
Pass to team member
Shoot for a goal
Blocking
Tackling
Rules of the game.

The award provides you with the skills and understanding to both train and compete.

If you’re new to Polo, you might want to consider the Paddle Explore Award before progressing to the Polo Explore Award.

Each day you spend playing in Polo boats further expands your skills and knowledge, creating a more enjoyable experience on the water. With no two experiences ever the same, you never stop learning. Continually evaluating our skills creates a natural evolution of ability.

If you think you already have the skills and knowledge of this Award, you could consider the Polo Perform Award.

You will look at choosing the right venue as well as understand how you can prepare effectively. As part of the award you will develop a greater understanding of what kit is appropriate and to use them in context. Working with your Coach you will then look at developing your Polo skills, focusing on enjoying the game and taking an active part within sessions. During and after each session, you and your Coach discuss your progression and agree areas of focus to continue your understanding and skills.

This will include:

Choosing a Location
Getting Ready
At the Venue
Rules and Tactics
Polo Skills
Tactics
Teamwork
After the Session
Future Development

This Polo Award is based around your skills and the requirements at an introductory stage, with your Coach you will explore and develop both your understanding and skills. There is no formal assessment, your Coach will work with you on the decision making and skills that you require and when you are ready you will gain the Polo Explore Award.

All our courses are ran by fully qualified and vetted external trainers. Choosing Book Course will take you to a trainer's website. Paddles Up Training is not responsible for the content of external websites.
