The module explores the factors that need to be taken into consideration, potentially months ahead of getting on the water. You will look at pre-trip planning and research, including expected weather conditions and visas, as well as the experience of the team and the physical and psychological demands.

Secondly, this interactive, practical module will provide you with top tips and valuable insights to make the most out of your trip.

Furthermore, this module is used by clubs, outdoor centres and organisations to support the planning of their journeys and expeditions. 

What does it involve? 

Trip Planning and Organisation is an exciting, practical module that will provide you with top tips and valuable insights.

  • You will develop an understanding of the factors that need to be taken into consideration, potentially months before you get on the water 
  • You will explore pre-trip planning and research
  • The tutors will support your knowledge of the physical and psychological demands during a trip
  • You will develop an understanding of how to plan for internal and external factors, such as hazards
  • Our tutors will share the top tips to ensure you are well prepared when you plan your next trip

There will be opportunities to ask questions to further your knowledge and meet like-minded people during the course. Many of our course candidates develop long lasting friendships, connections and contacts.

There is no need to register for this training course, by using the ‘find a course’ function you can book straight onto the module. This module is open to anyone wanting to gain knowledge about Trip Planning and Organisation, there is no age restriction. 

Content

This module will develop your trip planning and organisation skills. You will look at the factors that need to be taken into consideration, potentially months ahead of getting on the water. You will explore pre-trip planning and research, including expected weather conditions and visas, as well as the experience of the team and the physical and psychological demands.

The module covers:

  • The importance of trip planning
  • How to manage risk - decision making and what information influences your decision whilst planning and organising a trip.
  • Understanding internal and external factors to aid you in your decision making when trip planning
  • You will develop a trip plan to ensure you are taking into consideration the complexities

      This module takes a minimum of 8 hours but is often running during weekend or week long trips. The module is open to everyone and has no age restriction.
